Camping Advice For Beginners And Advanced Campers

Camping can be a great way to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It can also be an experience that you would give anything to forget. If you properly plan for your trip, it will turn out great. Use the following tips to prepare for your next camping trip to make it one you want to remember.

Take a lot of water for everyone to drink for your trip. This will make sure that everyone is hydrated properly throughout the trip, and that you all have access to clean drinking water on your trip. This is always a good idea because you don't want to dehydrate while you're out camping.

If you and your family are thinking about going camping, but do not want to sleep in a tent, there are other options. Some campgrounds offer log cabins, RVs and small building for you to sleep in. Just call the campground you were thinking of staying in and see if they offer these accommodations.

Camping often sounds like a great deal of fun, and it is; however it does require some special preparation. Before going camping for the first time, make sure you have done some research on tents, food and wildlife survival. It can make the difference between a great trip and a dangerous one.

Make sure to clean up your area when you are done camping. When you camp in the great outdoors, it is important to leave everything the way you found it. Doing this is respectful and considerate to the animals that live in the forest and future campers that may use the same site.

While camping, cook easy dinners like "hobo stew". Simply bring potatoes, ground meat, and veggies. Cut the veggies and potatoes at your campsite. Using tinfoil like a bowl, put the ingredients inside and fold the foil over until the food is covered. Place foil on hot rocks or the coals of the campfire, and eventually you will have a tasty "stew".

Bring insect repellent to keep all of the bugs off of you during your camping trip. You want to enjoy yourself as much as possible throughout your trip, and insects can make your trip a bad experience. Take insect repellent and spray and put some traps all around your camp to keep the bugs away.

Even if you're not going a long distance away on your camping trip, or even if you're going into familiar territory, always stay in touch with friends, family or neighbors. Tell someone where your trip will be, and how long you'll be gone. And if you can, check in regularly using a mobile phone.

Store your excess food high up in trees away from your campground. Unless you like bears and other potentially dangerous wildlife, this tip is a must. If you leave food around your camp, you will get unwanted visitors. Protect yourself and your campmates by following through with this tip.

If you are hiking through dense foliage, be prepared by wearing clothing that covers most of your skin. Dense foliage can hide many different poisonous plants, briars, thorns and sharp tree branches. If your skin is not covered, you can expect to have all sorts of skin irritations, cuts and abrasions by the end of the day.

If you are traveling with children, consider staying at a campground that is specifically designated for families. Campers in these areas know what to expect and will not have an issue if you have a cranky toddler or your children want to run around, scream and play. You will probably be more relaxed as a result and have a better time.

Once you know more about camping, you can really relax and have fun when you head out into nature. As with any activity, the more you know, the more successful your camping trips will be. Just remember the useful tips you have read here so that you can enjoy all of your camping trips.
