Cooking Has Never Been This Easy Before!

How many times have you dreaded going into the kitchen to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner? You might need a new perspective. Cooking can be enjoyable and relaxing if you try to see it in another way. Here are a few cooking tips that are sure to get your taste buds tingling and entice your inner chef to come out.

Apples tend to be a big ingredient during fall and winter, but they tend to spoil quickly if not stored properly. Storing apples in warm, dry air will cause them to rot. Instead, store your apples in a cool place. Make sure to inspect your apples regularly, as one rotten apple means that the others are soon to follow.

Fresh fruits, such as apples, avocados, bananas, peaches and pears are likely to turn brown when sliced and exposed to air. You can stop the browning by brushing them with lemon or salt water but pineapple juice is recommended because it will not adversely affect the taste. The fruit does not need to be soaked; a quick dunk is all it needs.

Think big if you plan to make chicken stock. Fill a large pot of stock and freeze it for later. That tasty chicken stock is very versatile and can be perfect for your next stew, casserole or soup. Freeze premeasured amounts of your stock in freezer proof containers or bags when cool.

If you are overwhelmed with making dinner for the family, you should try doing some of the preparing the night before. The night before the big day, prepare a sauce, marinate meat or chopping up and measuring out vegetables and herbs. This alleviates stress at suppertime since you have already done part of the work.

Soften your butter, but don't melt it, when you cream butter or sugar as part of your cookie recipe. If the butter is melted, put it in the refrigerator or freezer for a minute or two to stiffen it up. You could also put the entire cookie dough mixture in the refrigerator. Chilled dough will keep the cookies from spreading excessively as they bake.

When using a citrus fruit for juicing, it is best to warm it just a little in the microwave first. Take your lemon, orange, or other fruits and heat it up in the microwave for ten seconds. After the fruit is done microwaving, roll it on the counter before you cut it.

If you are trying to lose weight or lower your cholesterol, try to decrease the amount of fat in your diet. Most oils, and butters, too, contain a very high fat content, and this fat is neither necessary or always the good kind. Replace them with a nonstick cooking spray and you won't notice the difference.

Here are some new tricks to try with oysters. Most people eat oysters raw with lemon juice, but you can serve them in other ways. Place oysters that have already been opened in a broiler pan. Cover them with a small amount of cream. Broil the oysters until they are bubbling; you may also wish to top them with black pepper or grated cheese. Furthermore, you can saute oysters. Coat them with seasoned flour and saute them in warm butter for about two minutes, until the oysters are golden. Don't remove oysters from their shells before baking. Put them into a casserole dish and then add some butter and breadcrumbs over the top. Put in the oven and bake for five minutes at 425 degrees. They are done when the juices on top of each oyster are bubbling. They go great with toasted baguettes.

Dark, leafy greens are super healthy, but preparing them can be a pain. One aspect that is tough is removing the stems. To make it simple, fold the leaf in half lengthwise and break the stem out from the middle. If not, utilize a knife or other sharp blade to cut out the stem from the folded leaf. Your green is expertly relieved of its stem when you unfold the leaf again.

To reduce the amount of stress you experience when cooking a complicated dish, you can prepare some of the ingredients the night before you need them. Make sure you have every ingredient you need, and measure out spices or herbs. Cut veggies as necessary. As you begin your masterpiece, just put it all together and cook as necessary.
